Slug
A series of performative events, workshops, and meditations on moving slowly and consciously at interface with physical and temporal boundaries by assuming the form and consciousness of a slug. This is a 2 year project for 2023-2024 involving durational events and extensive research into the biology and psychology of slugs and gastropod culture, resulting in an archive of cumulative documentation through video, interviews, and essays. The goal of this work is to tap into the natural wisdom of slugs by becoming a slug, akin to practices in martial arts that attempt to become a totem animal. To be a slug is to be patient; curious; fluid; permeable; focused; aware of one’s boundaries; embracing personal tendencies towards slow thinking and processing.
Previous slug explorations include performances choreographed by Cori Kresge with dancer Breckyn Drescher.
